Workplace Learning (WPL) is a Department of Education endorsed program which enables students to experience the workplace environment in their chosen area of interest. The program operates one day per week and the work hours a student accumulates is recognised as units (subject equivalent) toward graduation. Sevenoaks Senior College has an outstanding reputation in Perth as a senior secondary campus that values an holistic and culturally inclusive approach to learning and draws on the potential each person has to contribute to community life. This is reflected in the reports and feedback WPL students received during and after their placements in 2014:
- “She did an amazing job…I would hire her tomorrow…” Hall and Prior Aged Care
- “Just the way she can adapt to any task…she’ll jump in and try new things.” Bentley Primary School
- “I can apply all my knowledge to the tasks I was given…” student at John Hughes Group
- “Fantastic presence, independent and showed real initiative…” Brookman House
- “Nothing was too much trouble for him…” Power Fitness
- “Great attitude and reliability…” Administration and Accounts – Melbourne Hotel
There are many positive placement stories about how successful WPL can be as a mutually beneficial experience for both students and employers. For more information contact the College on 9356 4900.
