Report Night Barbeque a Big Success!

During Parent Night in Term 2 the Certificate II English as an Additional Language (EAL) students held the first ever EAL Barbecue. For many of the EAL students and parents, it was the first chance to experience an authentic Australian barbeque. The EAL students did an amazing job preparing and cooking meat, veggies and fruit while having a chat and dancing the afternoon away. Some students added a much welcome multicultural flavour by bringing in dishes from their home country to share with others.

Approximately 100 EAL students and parents attended the barbecue. This was a fantastic opportunity for parents, teachers and students to mingle and discuss academic performance in a more relaxed environment. With over 30% of the Sevenoaks’ student population originating from non-English speaking backgrounds, we hope the EAL barbecue becomes an annual celebration that enriches our College community.
