Blake Young, a young hip hop artist from LA and now an international speaker, gave an inspirational talk to our year 11 students during our Advocacy program. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Blake grew up dealing with divorce, sexual abuse, drugs, gang violence, bullying and a number of other difficult issues.

The message that Blake stressed to students is that you can’t lose something you have never lost; your unique character and qualities.
He spoke to students emphasizing that they were already winners and amazing young people who, at times, may need a bit of direction to help them find their way. Blake pointed out that the College staff have dedicated their lives to helping students on their journey. He urged students to ask for assistance if ever they felt at a loss.

Our appreciation goes to our College Chaplain, Kat Taylor, for organising this special event for our students. Guest speakers are often engaged by the College to bring relevant and different perspectives to our students.
