Year 12 Integrated Science students are currently studying forensic science. Part of this study looks at facial
reconstruction.Facial reconstruction is the process of recreating the face of an individual (whose identity is usually not known) from their skeletal remains. In the case of our year 12 Integrated Science program a moulded hard plastic skull
is used. Facial reconstruction is a skilled science which includes artistry, anthropology and biological anatomy.
Our students excel in some aspects of this work. You be the judge! The forensic science unit in semester one included topics such as (artificial) blood analysis, finger printing, DNA extraction using gel electrophoresis, drug detection (again artificial), hair and fibre analysis as well as facial reconstruction.
