We have been very busy this term as we farewelled our Year 12 cohort and at the same time, getting everything ready for 2025. Overall, 2024 has been an amazing year as you will have noticed by all the social media posts and our termly newsletter. I must say a huge thank you to Dani Dodson, our media/marketing guru who ensures that our broad community are kept up to date with everything that happens at Sevenoaks. Dani is amazing and is always well connected to everything that is happening. Thank you!
It has been a very proud term for Sevenoaks Senior College to be recognised as a finalist at the WA Education Awards. We didn’t win but can be proud extremely proud of our efforts. Being recognised in the top four schools in the state, and only high school, for Excellence in Cultural Responsiveness is a huge honour. Thank you to our families and our extensive network of industry partners.
We farewelled our Year 12 cohort during week one. Another great breakfast for our students organised by staff who came along to support, cook, clean and chat. It was a great way for students to finish at Sevenoaks. Then it was time for the main event. What a wonderful event this year’s Presentation Ceremony was. Our students were amazing showing full respect and highlighting the young adults they have become. The audience was the biggest ever – over 1000. Great to see so many parents, carers, family members and friends at the presentation. It was a wonderful team effort by everyone to make the day a success. We are already missing our Year 12 cohort.
During the year, there is much that happens to make Sevenoaks a success. Our industry partners are always willing to support us; our support staff always on hand to ensure that teachers and students are supported; our incredible teachers always being prepared to go above and beyond for our students; our leadership team and their unwavering commitment to our vision; and finally, our College Board who do so much to support us in achieving our goals and making Sevenoaks the best place it can possibly be.
Finally, we all remember our teachers and those who have influenced and supported us through our school days. I know that in time, our students will reflect and remember our staff for a whole range of reasons for the impact that they have had. We all celebrated our journey on World Teacher’s Day. Thanks to the teachers and staff for ensuring our students leave us as young adults toward their future pathways.
I would like to wish all students and their families the best for a wonderful and relaxing holiday season. We will certainly miss you but it’s time for you all to have a lovely break and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2025.
Thank you all for your support.
