The Trade Training Program caters for young men and women who are passionate about working in either the Automotive or Metals Engineering trades. Typically, students are serious about successfully completing certificates, workplace learning and courses that will prepare them for industry apprenticeships.  It is our expectation and experience that students in the Trade Training Program approach their work with a high degree of focus in the workshop, the workplace and the classroom.

Students who are enrolled in the Automotive or Metals Engineering Trade Training Program at Sevenoaks Senior College have a unique opportunity to work in a modern, purpose built complex that opened in 2012.

Entry is by application and interview only.  This helps ensure that our students maintain their high level of success in being offered apprenticeships and full time employment at the completion of their schooling.

As well as school based WACE courses in English, Mathematics and Career and Enterprise, nationally accredited Certificate courses are completed in the latest industry standard facilities.  In addition, all students will complete workplace learning in their chosen industry providing direct experience in the field.

Students are supported by staff with expertise in the industry field as well being dedicated teachers who demonstrate the relevance of school based courses to the workplace.

The Trade Training Program has established strong partnerships with a number of key Western Australian stakeholders.

Cummins International  has worked closely with the College to establish a robust partnership setting up the Sevenoaks Senior College TEC  Trade Training Centre Consortium.

The consortium includes:

  • Cummins South Pacific
  • Komatsu
  • Westrans
  • GKR Transport
  • CJD/Kenworth
  • Centurion
  • AHG
  • Fuel Distributors of Western Australia (FDWA).

This impressive consortium provides Sevenoaks students with quality work experience and a pathway to apprenticeships and employment.

Sevenoaks Senior College is currently the only public school to host such a partnership.

The success of the Program saw three of our Year 12 students achieve Certificates of Excellence in vocational training in 2016.  These are statewide Awards and our winners reflect the high standards maintained in the Trade Training Program.

Please contact the Program Coordinator – Vocational Education and Training (VET) for details about the certificates offered, on (08) 6235 7200. To enquire about enrolling, click here.
