Rosh Hashanah/Jewish New Year
September 9, 2018 - September 11, 2018
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year festival, commemorates the creation of the world. A synagogue ritual is the blowing of the Shofar, a ram’s horn trumpet. Apples are dipped in honey as a symbol of the sweet New Year that lies ahead. Work is not permitted. Most Jews will cease work at around midday on 9 September.
