The Canning Skills Programs have been busy with a variety of activities such as a visit to the Perth Hills Discovery Centre for an Aboriginal cultural experience. Students had a wonderful day exploring aspects of Indigenous culture and traditions, tool making, bush food and care of the land. This was part of the courses offered that include Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies.

A visit to the Art Gallery of WA to participate in an Indigenous Art Tour and Workshop was another activity recently completed. This also included a workshop using a medium of sand and glue to explore symbolism and perspectives demonstrated by many Aboriginal artists.

A Health Promotion Day also took place which included guest speakers from AADS (Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service), Headspace and Mission Australia. A highlight was Scooby from Ricochet Circus who had a selection of apparatus for the students to try like plate spinning, diablo, hula hoops and a unicycle! In attendance was also a couple of local police officers keen to build a positive partnership with the college.
